FAQS

Copyright Questions

What is the turnaround time for obtaining copyright clearance?
Copyright approval may be obtained within 24 hours to 6 weeks depending on the nature of the material and the rights holder.

Do I need copyright clearance for an out-of-print book?
Yes, copyright permission is required for out-of-print books. While a publication may be “out-of-print” it is still necessary to obtain permission from the rights holder for reproduction of that material.

Once copyright clearance is obtained, will it need to be requested again?
Yes, copyright permissions are required each time you want to use copyrighted material. Normally, copyright clearance is applicable for one academic term or for a specified period of time. Copyright clearance must be obtained each academic term.

Can illustrations and pictures be copied?
Yes, as long as permission is granted from the rights holder. Usually pictures and illustrations have different rights holders when they derive from text publications such as books, magazines, newspapers, etc.

How long does it take to produce CoursePacks?
Copyright material may take 24 hours up to 6 weeks. Non-copyright material normally can be shipped to you within 2-5 business days. “Need Extras” ship within 24 hours.

What are my binding options?
LAD provides coil, 3 hole punch and shrink-wrap, and tape binding (120 pages or less). If another method of binding is preferred, we can customize to your specifications. Simply check the box labeled “Other” on the “Order” form, and specify your request.

Can I get a proof copy prior to production?
On the “Order” form in the special instructions section, note that you would like to proof the CoursePack prior to production. However, this may cause a delay with the order.

Does the professor get a desk copy?
The professor will receive 1 free desk copy with every order. Additional desk copies are available on request. The desk copies will be shipped with the CoursePacks to the bookstore.

Will the originals be returned?
The professor’s originals, desk copy and CoursePacks will be shipped together to the bookstore.

Can I order the same CoursePack for another term?
Yes, please use the “Re-Order” form. Indicate whether it is an exact repeat or whether the CoursePack will have changes. In the “Special Instructions” section of the order form, please note the deletions and/or additions to the CoursePack and the new sequence for the material. The professor will need to send in any new material that will be added to the CoursePack.

Cancellation, Billing, & Return Questions

What happens if a CoursePack or course has been cancelled?
If a CoursePack is cancelled prior to production and has incurred copyright processing, a fee will be charged. The fee will not exceed 10% of the estimated value of the order. If there are no copyrights there will be no charge to cancel the order. With or without copyrights, if the order has been produced no returns will be allowed.

What is LAD’s return policy?
LAD provides a 100% credit on all unused CoursePacks. Return the covers only. Returns must be received within 365 days from the invoiced date. For additional details, contact Customer Service at customerservice@ladcsutompub.com or call 1-877-318-8800.

What does “On Time Every Time” really mean?

When can credits be used?
Credits may be used any term following the term credit was issued. Credits may not be used during the same term they are incurred.
